Basalt: rivers and a slower afternoon
Basalt sits at the meeting of the Fryingpan and Roaring Fork rivers. Explore historic downtown, make time for lunch, and look to Willits for more dining and arts. It is a useful stop for a day that leaves room to wander.
Carbondale: Main Street and Mount Sopris
Carbondale has a strong arts scene, local restaurants and the familiar outline of Mount Sopris. Walk or ride a section of the Rio Grande Trail, explore the public art along the ARTway, then head downtown for dinner.
Glenwood Springs: hot springs and canyon scenery
Make a soak part of your itinerary at one of Glenwood Springs’ hot springs destinations. Combine it with time downtown or a look at the canyon scenery. Check each attraction’s current hours, reservations and access before setting out.
